Ecotourism is a growing global ‘brand’. In more and more countries around the world, national quality labels will help to ensure the good quality and a high environmental profile of ecotourism products. The Norwegian criteria are based on the principles set out in the UN's Declaration on Ecotourism from 2002. International collaborative efforts aim to ensure good quality and a high environmental profile for certified ecotourism products. This is essential for the future of ecotourism as a recognised global brand and quality label.
